“Sensation quantique. A preview”, 2025. Direction: Chadi Abo, HECAT Studio. Music: Max-Louis Raugel
‘Atoms trapping!’, oil on canvas, 2024, Caroline Delétoille
Quantum sensation
Atoms and memory
Quantum physics challenges our intuitions about the nature of reality. It is one of the most thoroughly tested theories in the world. Yet, for many, its successes remain veiled in mystery.
Quantum Sensation offers an immersion into the quantum world through a rapprochement with memory and the reconstruction of memories. Conceived as a sensory wandering, the exhibition is built around several installations of paintings by the artist Caroline Delétoille. It is the result of a research-creation project with the philosopher Céline Boisserie-Lacroix and the physicist Aurore Young, in collaboration with quantum research laboratories.
“We must be clear that when it comes to atoms, language can be used only as it is used in poetry.” Niels Bohr
Highly mathematized and with tangible applications, it explores objects ordinarily inaccessible to our senses, which challenge our intuitions and our imaginations.
In fact, it offers a glimpse into radically new orders of reality, evoking an unprecedented sense of vertigo. By explaining our world, it unveils a dimension tinged with mystery.
“Cristal crafting”, 2024. Dongjoon Song. Quantum Matter Institute, UBC Vancouver
The exhibition’s journey is an invitation to follow fragments of memory that could belong to everyone, and thus rediscover a part of the experimental path of researchers at the forefront of quantum physics.
At the crossroads of practices, an incursion into the world of the laboratory is proposed, resulting from the artist’s various residencies in scientific laboratories (Kastler Brossel, Paris and Quantum Matter Institute, Vancouver).
Curatorial team: a philosopher, a physicist, an artist
Céline Boisserie-Lacroix, Aurore Young, Caroline Delétoille.
The curators
Céline Boisserie-Lacroix
Artistic curation
Her research lies at the intersection of the philosophy of mind, aesthetics, and contemporary art. She dedicated her master’s thesis to collaborations between artists and scientists. Her doctoral dissertation then explored the role of emotions in our rationality and the justification of beliefs.
Aurore Young
Scientific curation
Aurore Young has been dedicated to quantum physics since 2020, after seven years in Canada programming on major video game productions. She is a doctoral candidate at the Kastler Brossel Laboratory of quantum physics at the Collège de France. Her research focuses on the implementation of long-lived quantum states.
Caroline Delétoille
Artistic creation
“My work is a search for memory, a documentation of the ordinary. Starting from archive images, or from places and people I encounter, my paintings take a step aside from reality, the visual space becomes a playground. As rational reference points are disrupted, the imagination is activated.”
The artistic team
Kevin Lebouvier
Scenograph and artistic collaboration in installations design
Kevin Lebouvier explores the multifaceted art of exhibition design, considering both its aesthetic and functional aspects. He has collaborated with numerous cultural institutions. His work is distinguished by an immersive and innovative approach, where each project is conceived as a genuine dialogue between the exhibition space and the artworks.
Chadi Abo
Animation film direction
Born in Damascus, Syria, Chadi Abo studied architecture and then visual arts at ENSAD. He specializes in animation and visual effects (VFX) and has worked on films such as *The Matrix Reloaded* and *300*. In 2012, he founded HECAT Studio and dedicates himself to production and directing. He is passionate about science fiction and directed the immersive film *Quantum Sensation* with his studio’s team.
Max-Louis Raugel
Curation and music composer
His work explores the intuitive relationship between sound, space, social environments, and the body. After studying film theory, Max-Louis Raugel turned to music and became involved in London’s experimental scene in 2017. He composes for films, exhibitions, and performances, using original recordings and custom-made instruments.
Hermann Petre
Visual curation
Born in Romania, Passionate about contemporary art, Hermann Petre graduated from IESA Paris and developed an independent curatorial practice with the Kontemporama project. He has collaborated for several years with galleries and cultural institutions, and engages in independent projects, with a keen eye and attention to aesthetics and mediation.
Olivier Valiente
Photography and artistic advisory
Graduated in cinematography from the Centre d’Études Cinématographiques de Catalunya, Olivier Valiente has developed an intimate approach to the image and is passionate about darkroom techniques. His work explores the poetry of absence and the subtle interplay of light.
Axel Benassis
Graphic Design
After studying at the Rennes School of Fine Arts, Axel Benassis specialized in art direction and graphic design. He seeks simple, recognizable images with a popular design that communicate directly with users and visually convey the message. He contributed to the designs for the scientific outreach materials for the exhibition.
Louis Pierre-Lacouture
Documentary Film
Louis is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice encompasses filmmaking, sound, and visual arts. After 10 years of performing under the pseudonym Enzym, he directed several short films and documentaries. From 2023 to 2025, his project Moondog Equestria, currently in post-production and focused on the equestrian tradition of the escaramuza, received support from the CNAP (National Center for Visual Arts). In 2025, he was awarded the ADAGP Video Creation Grant.
